Where to Sleep In Genoa
Neighbourhood & District Guide
Genoa is a large city which covers an area of 243 square kilometres. It's expressive landscape is owed to the fact that it is set between the Ligurian Sea and the Apennine Mountains . The city develops on the coast for about 30 kilometres from the neighbourhood of Voltri to Nervi, and for 10 kilometres (6 miles) from the coast to the north along the valleys Polcevera and Bisagno. The city is soo large that it has more than 90 districts.
Pegli to Sestri is very industrial and residential with little to explore if you are a tourist. For exploring Genoa we reccomend that you either stay in the tourist areas of the city centre or find accommodation along the coast towards Nervi.
The most tourist district is 'Centro Storico' which in itself covers a very large area.
